Hard to believe 2012 is already halfway over - but Kia certainly isn't complaining. The first half of the year for this Korean automaker was very good. In fact, the best they've ever had. Sales are up 13.9 percent over last year, and in Q2 they broke the 150,000 unit mark for the first time ever. June also marks the 22^nd month of consecutive sales growth.

By the numbers:

-June sales: 51,326 units
-Q2 sales: 150,657 units
-Year-to-date sales increase: 17.8 percent
-Most improved model: Kia Optima, with 13,393 units sold in June, an 88.7 percent increase
-Other sales gains: Kia Rio5 up 87.7 percent over last June; and the Kia Sorento, up 8.1 percent over the same time last year

Kia Motors America CEO and Group President, Byung Mo Ahn explains, "Kia has been setting one sales record after another for nearly two years, and the ongoing popularity of our two U.S.-built products as well as the Soul have attracted new customers to our showrooms and dramatically raised awareness, perception and consideration for the brand in a very short period of time."¹
