Looking for an innovative car loaded with good technology at an approachable price? Well, Bloomberg recently named the 2011 Kia Sorento the Best Crossover/Family Car of the Year.

Bloomberg refers to the 2011 Kia Sorento, which gets 29 mpg/highway (4-cyl) and has a 10-year powertrain warranty, as "the best-looking non-luxury SUV on the market."  The news source goes on to say, "?it's hard to beat the package, especially at the price."1

Compared to the less popular 2009 Kia Sorento, the 2011 model offers more space for cargo (9.1 cubic feet behind the third row, 37 cubic feet behind the second row and 72.5 cubic feet behind the first row) and a reshaped exterior. Beyond its sleek appearance, the 2011 Sorento has transformed from a SUV into a true crossover.

Two revamped engines, a 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder with 175 horsepower and a stronger 276-horsepower 6-cylinder, offer drastically improved fuel economy. Families will also now be able to take a trailer or a boat along for outdoor adventures, with a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds for models with the 6-cylinder engine.

All 2011 Kia base models are loaded with a generous amount of standard features, including:  a SIRIUS-ready satellite radio with CD and MP3 support, Bluetooth connectivity, air conditioning and a telescoping steering wheel. Kia also includes hill start assist and downhill brake assist as standard features, along with electronic stability control, and traction control.

The dramatic makeover of the Kia Sorento is not only recognized by Bloomberg. Consumers have taken notice as well. According to a recent Kia dealer press release2, the U.S.-made, 2011 Kia Sorento became the first Kia model to sell 100,000 units in the U.S., in a single calendar year.

According to one Kia General Manager, "Size, features and value are the reasons ?customers are choosing the Sorento. For families on a budget, the Sorento provides a strong alternative to SUVs ? It offers all the big SUV features in an economical package that's fun on the road and in the parking lot."2
