The 2010 Kia Forte, Soul and 2011 Sorento all earned top safety pick honors from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This is good news for Kia, as its highly marketed, Soul, continues to reap the rewards. Kelly Blue Book calls the Kia Soul, one of the "10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000." If that weren't enough, Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com both rated the Kia Soul as one of "the best family cars," and Cars.com rated it as the "best hatchback of 2010."
Another Kia model is also earning top safety rankings. The Kia Forte received the highest rating in front, side, rear and rollover impact crash tests. The Forte also features such safety features as the front headrests, advanced two-stage airbags, front seat-mounted and side curtain airbags, four-wheel disc brakes with an antilock brake system (ABS), brake assist (BAS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), a traction control system (TCS) and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
It must also be mentioned that the 2011 Kia Sorento was the IIHS's Top Safety Pick for the Midsize SUV category.
"In addition to offering consumers outstanding quality, appealing new design, comfort and value, the Kia brand is first and foremost committed to providing the highest levels of passenger safety," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing of Kia Motors America (KMA).
